Bands

The University of Central Florida Bands is a large, comprehensive instrumental studies program involving four concert bands, chamber wind & percussion ensembles and athletic bands, serving approximately 500-600 undergraduate and graduate students each year.

The UCF Bands embody a mission not only to contribute to the greater musical and creative world about us, but also to provide professional training for students in music education and in performance, and to serve as a musical and creative outlet for wind & percussion student-musicians throughout the university community, regardless of their course of study.

Ensembles affiliated with the UCF Bands have performed at state, regional and national venues, including conferences of the Florida Music Educators Association and College Band Directors National Association, home athletics events and nationally-televised NCAA bowl and tournament games.

The UCF Wind Ensemble is comprised of approximately 50 of the finest wind and percussion students at the University of Central Florida. Performing literature of the highest caliber, the Wind Ensemble presents two to three concerts per semester on campus and at local, regional, and national venues including their 2020 performance for the Southern Division Conference of the College Band Directors National Association. Auditions are required for membership and are held at the beginning of each semester. Auditions are open to any University of Central Florida student regardless of major. Audition information below.

The UCF Symphonic Band is an auditioned ensemble that performs a varied repertoire of standard band literature. The Symphonic Band presents two concerts per semester, both locally and regionally. Auditions are required for membership and are held at the beginning of each semester. The Symphonic Band presents two to three concerts each semester. Auditions are open to any University of Central Florida student regardless of major. Audition information below.

The UCF Concert Band is an open-enrollment ensemble designed to offer continued performance opportunities for those students who wish to keep music in their lives as a recreational and aesthetic activity. No audition is required to become a member. Comprised of both music majors and non-music majors, the Concert Band presents two concerts per semester each fall and spring.

The UCF University Band is an open-enrollment ensemble designed to offer continued performance opportunities for those students who wish to keep music in their lives as a recreational and aesthetic activity. No audition is required to become a member. Comprised of both music majors and non-music majors, the University Band presents two concerts per semester. This ensemble is only offered in the spring semester.

With over 375 students, the Marching Knights represent nearly every undergraduate academic program on campus. The Marching Knights perform at all home football games, selected away game, conference championship and bowl games. Recently, they have performed twice at the American Athletic Conference Championship, at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, the Gasparilla Bowl and the Auto Nation Cure Bowl. Furthermore, the Marching Knights have been invited, and have performed at Bands of America Regional Competitions, the Florida Marching Band Championships, and have been featured at the College Band Directors Southern Division Conference.

The UCF Jammin’ Knights is a highly energized group of musicians who lend their musical abilities and school spirit to create a “home court advantage” for the UCF Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams. Consisting of students representing nearly every college and major on campus, the Jammin’ Knights perform at all home basketball games and travel to post-season tournaments as warranted. No audition is required for membership unless deemed necessary by the director.
