Audition Pieces

We have separated each instrument into “Intermediate” (for mostly middle school students) and “Advanced” (we expect the high school students to attempt these).

Please see the appropriate audition pieces for your instrument. You are welcome to play any of the etudes, or part of one if that’s what you can prepare. You will also be asked to play as many major scales as you are able – by memory or on your band scale sheet if you’d prefer.

More Information

Students will participate in chamber groups, masterclasses, and instrumental choirs. It is recommended that participants be students from 7th–12th grade.

An audition will be held prior to the start of the camp for placements in instrumental choirs and chamber ensembles. All students will perform during the closing chamber music concert, and select solo opportunities may be auditioned as well.

Will there be housing available?

Yes!

Can my student request a specific roommate?

Yes!

Will there be adults supervising campers?

Yes. There will be an adult present at all events, during free time, and overnight for those staying on campus.

Do students have to stay on campus to participate?

No! Local students can commute daily.

Does my child have to be an All-State participant to attend UCF Brass Camp?

No — anyone with at least 1 year of band experience on their instrument is eligible!

Will students be performing in large groups, or with like ages and skill levels?

Both! We will have large ensemble and auditioned chamber ensembles all week!

Do I have to audition?

We'd like to hear you play at the beginning of the camp. This will help us place you with the appropriate ensembles for the four days. Ensembles will be divided by ability and experience.
